About Us

Welcome to Wallaroos

At Wallaroos, we believe every child is a curious explorer, ready to discover the world with wonder.

Our learning journey is intentionally designed to nurture this innate curiosity — inviting hands-on discovery, quiet observation, and joyful learning at a pace that feels just right.

OUR JOURNEY

A little journey. A lot of wonder.

Wallaroos began in 2000 with a simple thought:

What if childhood was allowed to be… childhood?

A place to wonder.

To wander.

To get messy.

To follow an idea and see where it leads.

What started as one thoughtfully prepared space has grown into a vibrant community of children, families and educators.

Over the years, our spaces have evolved, our ideas have expanded and our understanding of childhood has deepened — shaped by generations of children who have walked through our doors and left their little fingerprints on who we are.

The spaces have changed.

The ideas have grown.

The children keep teaching us new things.

But one thing has stayed beautifully constant — our belief in the child.

And so, after all these years, we continue to observe deeply, listen closely, reflect thoughtfully and evolve with purpose — always keeping the child at the heart of the journey.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Payal Shah

Founder, Wallaroos | Montessori-trained Educator

A belief in an unhurried childhood.

It is a time to pause, wonder, explore, experience and simply be.

Payal believes every child arrives with an innate rhythm, a unique way of seeing the world and an incredible capacity to discover it. Childhood deserves to be lived with enough time for each child to follow their own interests, linger over what fascinates them and find meaning in their experiences.

At the heart of her philosophy:

EXPLORATIONS → EXPERIENCES → EMOTIONS → CONNECTIONS

To explore with curiosity.

To experience through the senses.

To feel, wonder and make meaning.

And somewhere in that little magic, learning happens.

For Payal, the educator’s role is to create the platform for this natural unfolding — to prepare thoughtfully, observe deeply, listen closely and offer support without taking away the child’s sense of discovery.

It is about knowing when to offer a hand, and when to let the child take the next step independently.

This is the kind of childhood she imagined for Wallaroos — and the belief that continues to shape it today.

OUR TEAM

The people who make Wallaroos, Wallaroos.

A beautiful environment is only the beginning.

It is the people within it who bring it to life.

Our team comes from different backgrounds, with different strengths, personalities and talents. What brings us together is a shared respect for childhood and a genuine delight in being around children.

We believe good educators are present, perceptive and purposeful.

They notice the little things.

They listen to the unspoken.

They celebrate the “aha!” moments.

They know that a quiet observer may be learning just as deeply as the child who has a hundred questions.

Our educators don't follow a one-size-fits-all script. They respond to the children in front of them — thoughtfully, sensitively and with a good measure of joy.

Because at Wallaroos, our team is not here simply to run a classroom.

We are here to build relationships, create possibilities and make childhood feel wonderfully worth remembering.
